Sanitary Equipment Company Inc. ("SECI," "we," "us" or "our") sells and services refuse and environmental equipment and parts from West Haven, Connecticut and Walpole, Massachusetts. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit www.sanitaryequipment.com (the "Site"), place an order, send us a request, apply for a job or otherwise contact us, and how we use and share it.
Information We Collect
Information you give us. Depending on how you work with us, this may include:
- Contact details, such as your name, company or municipality, title, email address, phone number, and billing and shipping addresses.
- Order information, such as the products you buy, order totals and delivery details. Card payments made on the Site are handled by our payment processors, and we do not receive your full card number through the Site.
- Account information when you create a customer account or apply for a business account, such as your company name, business address and contact details.
- Requests and messages you send through our forms, by email or by phone, such as parts, service, equipment and custom build requests, including equipment details like make, model and serial number, photos you add to a parts request form, and any photos or files you email to us.
- Employment applications, such as your contact details, work history, licenses and certifications, resume or profile links, and anything else you choose to include.
- Sign-ups for email updates or back-in-stock notices.
Information collected automatically. When you use the Site, we and our service providers collect device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, items added to your cart, links clicked and how you arrived at the Site. Information from others. Service providers that help us run the Site and our business, such as our online store platform, payment processors and shipping carriers, may give us information about your orders, payments and deliveries.
How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- Process, ship and support orders and returns.
- Answer questions, prepare quotes, and schedule and perform service.
- Set up and manage customer and business accounts.
- Review employment applications and contact applicants.
- Send messages about your orders, account, requests and service.
- Send email updates you signed up for. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any marketing email.
- Operate, secure and improve the Site, including preventing spam and fraud.

How We Share Information
We share personal information only as described here:
- Service providers that work on our behalf, including Shopify (online store, checkout, customer accounts and forms), payment processors, shipping carriers such as UPS, Klaviyo (email updates, sign-up forms and Site activity), AMP (back-in-stock notices), hCaptcha (spam protection on forms), Cloudinary (storing photos you add to a parts request form), Google Fonts (delivering the fonts used on the Site), and our email, IT and form-processing providers.
- Manufacturers and suppliers, when needed to quote, order, ship or support a product you buy, such as an order shipped directly from the manufacturer.
- Professional advisers, such as accountants, lawyers and insurers, when needed.
- Legal and safety reasons, to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, prevent fraud, and protect the rights, property and safety of SECI, our customers and others.
- Business transfers, as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of all or part of our business.
- With your consent or at your direction.
Our online store is hosted by Shopify, which processes information when you visit the Site and make purchases. See the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy.
We do not sell personal information for money.
Photos You Add to a Parts Request
When you add a photo to our parts request form, it is uploaded right away to Cloudinary, the service we use to store these photos, and a link to each photo is sent with your request so our parts team can see it. Because the upload happens when you add the photo, a photo may already be stored even if you then remove it from the form or do not send the request. Anyone who has a photo's link can open it, so please photograph only the part or equipment, not people, license plates or documents.
Where your browser can process the photo, the form makes it smaller and removes embedded camera data, such as location, before uploading it. Some photos are uploaded as they are, such as small PNG files and HEIC photos your browser cannot open, and may still contain that data. To ask us to delete a photo, email info@sanitaryequipment.com.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to run the Site, remember your cart and settings, understand how the Site is used, and support our email updates. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the Site, including the cart and checkout, may not work without them. Our Cookie Policy has more detail.
Your Choices and Rights
Email. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time with the link in any marketing email, or by contacting us. We may still send messages about your orders, account and requests.
Privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we have about you and get a copy of it.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete personal information.
- Opt out of targeted advertising and of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, as those terms are defined by law.
- Withdraw consent where we rely on your consent.
- Appeal our decision about your request.

We may need to confirm your identity before we respond. An authorized agent may make a request for you if we receive proof that you authorized it. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or by emailing info@sanitaryequipment.com with "Privacy appeal" in the subject line. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Job Applicants
We use the information in an application to consider you for employment, contact you, and keep the records the law requires. Please do not include your Social Security number, driver's license number, date of birth or other sensitive information in an application or resume. We will ask for anything else we need later in the hiring process.
How Long We Keep Information
We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes above, including to keep business records, meet legal, tax and accounting requirements, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, but no method of sending or storing information is completely secure. Please do not send sensitive information, such as card or account numbers, through our forms or by email.
Children
The Site is intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Visitors Outside the United States
SECI is based in the United States, and we and our service providers process information in the United States. If you contact us from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
Other Websites
The Site links to websites and services we do not control, such as manufacturer websites and social media. Their privacy practices are their own, so please review their policies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top.
